The Stone Canyon Residence sits atop a large 2.36-acre hillside lot in the heart of Paradise Valley on the northern slope of Camelback Mountain. The home, including the guest house, is just over 13,000 square feet square feet, with an additional 2,550 square feet of garage and storage area and covers less than 17 percent of the property with the balance dedicated to outdoor living areas and natural vegetation.  


The home is designed with an eye toward a state-of-the art life-style, entertaining, outdoor living, maximum energy efficiency, and security with a great variety of areas for your art.


Main Residence 


As you enter Stone Canyon, you will process through a private courtyard before making your way to the main entry. The courtyard has views of Camelback Mountain and features an entertainment area with a fire feature and a full outdoor kitchen. 


The main entry foyer leads to the large great room with access to the incredible views to Mummy Mountain, Clearwater Hills, Paradise Valley, north Phoenix, and north Scottsdale.


In addition to the views, the great room opens to the gourmet kitchen, a large dining room, a sit-down bar and a glass enclosed wine display room. The custom arcadia doors open up to 33 feet wide to a spectacular entertainment patio with unencumbered 180-degree views of the surrounding area with pool, spa, outdoor kitchen, fire pit and lawn area. 


The Main Kitchen features Gaggenau appliances, Sub Zero Refrigerator and Freezer, along with Dornbracht fixtures for the most discerning cook. Two separate islands and a community table offer ample room for large get-togethers. 


Adjacent to the kitchen is a separate Catering Kitchen with 2 separate cooking stations, warming drawers, 2 full size refrigerators and ice makers along with ample prep counter space, sink and dishwasher. All the catering appliances are sized to accommodate commercial size sheet pans for hosting the largest of parties. A concealed door leads directly into the dining area for uninterrupted dinner service.


The Dining Room is separated from the Great Room by a large fire place feature over 16 foot in length viewable from both areas. Concealed within the fireplace is a large screen TV that disappears with the push of a button. The dining room will easily accommodate 16 people.


At the head of the dining area is a glass enclosed 1,000 bottle climate controlled wine room accessed by a concealed door. The wine room is provided with generator power to protect your investment. 


At the foot of the dining area is a recessed wet bar with ample room for you and your friends. The wet bar features a great view of the outdoor entertainment area through the full length retractable window, which, when open, creates an indoor/outdoor bar. The bar area includes a Sub Zero beverage center, wine and cigar storage and a Scotsman ice maker for the best crystal clear ice cubes. It also contains a Gaggenau dishwasher, Dornbracht faucets and a sink with disposal.


The bedroom wing on the east side of the house features an Owner’s Master Suite, a Junior Master Suite along with three bedrooms for family members. 


The Master Suite which is accessed off a separate hallway, covers a total of approximately 1900 square feet and includes a large sitting area, fireplace, access to the main patio and two large individual bathrooms with walk-in-closets, sharing a large shower with multiple sprays. An outdoor shower is offered for the nature lover. Additionally, the Master Suite includes a refreshment area, with coffee machine, microwave oven, refrigerator and sink.


The Second Master Bedroom is located at the other end of the bedroom wing with easy access to the entry courtyard and the garages for privacy. The suite has his and her closets and a large bathroom with separate shower and tub. A large kitchenette area is also provided for your guest’s maximum privacy. 


The three large family bedrooms each contain en suite bathrooms and walk in closets with gorgeous views of peak of Camelback mountain.


An intimate study area is located midway in the bedroom wing with spectacular mountain views – ideal for reading and writing.


The areas on the other side of the great room include two large multipurpose rooms ideal for a gym set up, a study, hobby area, pool table - or any use the owner might want.


Guest Quarters


To the west of the multipurpose rooms is the “bridge” to the Guest Wing. The two-story guest quarters wing has the main living area on the same level as the residence and two large bedrooms below.


The guest quarters main living area consists of a great room with a large seating area, a generous kitchenette with a community table and access to a separate patio. This end of the residence faces north and will have extraordinary views of the Arizona sky.


The lower level, reached by both stairs and elevator has two large en suite bedrooms, one with a kitchenette. A laundry for the guest quarters is also provided on this level.


Construction Features


Exterior walls are constructed with either Insulated Concrete Forms with an additional insulation layer achieving an R-28 value or high-density ground face masonry with insulted cores and furring achieving an R value of 35. 

The steel roof structure is insulated with closed cell spray on material with an R-Value of 50. at the roof deck topped with a 20-year warranted ballasted roof membrane, this house tops out with an R-value of 50. The windows are 1 inch insulated Solar gray glass with a low-E coating, achieving a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient of less than .28.


A large portion of the roof is covered with a state-of-the-art photovoltaic (solar) system that is engineered to produce 45,000 DC watts of power estimated to generate 78,500 kilowatt hours per year. In the event of a power outage, the 25 KW/31 KVA Natural Gas Generator is ready and set to power all the main house critical power Appliances as well as the full extent of the 1900 Sq. Ft Master Suite including its 18 SEER HVAC system. 


The interior of the home is framed with steel with dual layer Acoustic drywall used for a great sense of privacy throughout. Low VOC and Formaldehyde free materials are utilized in all its finishes. 


The two garages are capable of holding 7 vehicles and are charge station ready and offer battery backup on the doors and main gate.


The 18 SEER mechanical system with Variable Speed motors is designed for maximum efficiency while allowing different portions of the home to be shut down when not in use. 


A water treatment system for all fixtures runs throughout the home.


Security starts at the street with a locked mailbox and separate secured parcel delivery locker. Gates and fencing secure the perimeter of the home while a state-of-the-art security system allows you to communicate with guests and allow them access whether you are home or away. If you are entertaining, you can allow your guests access to your event from both the road at the entry level as well as the road below, Solano Drive.
